There is such a wide range of breast augmentation technics that it is impossible to answer directly questions on breast augmentation prices.

The range of variables include:
- The type and approach of breast augmentation
- The country, region and hospital or clinic
- The surgeon’s skills
- Whether the operation is done under local or general anesthesia
- The type of implants used

How the breast implant is inserted will directly impact on the cost, as the insertion can be from an incision in the armpit, to one that is directly under the breast (usually the easiest approach), to one via the areolar margin, or from an incision in the abdominal wall.

Breast enlargement prices vary a lot in different countries.  USA with its high rate of legal suits for malpractice tends to be rather more pricey because the doctors need to take extra precautions and investigations to reduce errors, and also to cover the cost of malpractice premiums.  Countries in Asia tend to be cheaper although the level of surgical skills are at par with those in more developed countries.  The skill of the individual plastic surgeon counts a lot too.  A very experienced plastic surgeon with a good reputation and with a huge history of successful results will obviously tend to charge more.

Operations done under local anesthesia will cost less than those done under general anesthesia, where the risks are higher and involve hospital admission and the services of more medical staff.

Implant types: Two major types, saline prostheses and silicon prostheses.  Saline prostheses tend to be slightly cheaper.

In the USA breast augmentation costs will vary between $5000 to $8000 per procedure.  Compare this with the breast augmentation cost in Thailand, which can run from as low as $2600 for an outpatient procedure.

Insurance does not normally cover the costs of a breast implant procedure, unless this is part of  the treatment of a serious illness such as a mastectomy for a breast tumor.  Check if there is any financing available in the clinic.  Very often the clinic can arrange financing with a financial institution for your procedure.
